Student Code of Conduct & Disciplinary Action

Code of Conduct:

1. Respect for Others: Treat classmates, teachers, and staff with respect. Listen when others are speaking, use polite language, and respect others' opinions and differences.

2. Participation in a Group Environment: Participate actively in class activities and discussions. Engage in a group setting without disrupting the class flow. Individual attention from the instructor will be limited to 5 minutes.

3. Staying Within Sight: Remain within the instructor's eyesight at all times unless given explicit permission to do otherwise.

4. Safety and Personal Space: Respect personal space and safety. No running, pushing, or rough play. Be mindful of your own and others' safety.

5. Care for Property: Use classroom materials and equipment appropriately. Report any damages immediately. Do not remove or take materials from another person without asking first.

6. No Bullying Policy: Bullying - both physical or emotional - is strictly prohibited. Treat everyone with kindness and report any bullying to an instructor.

7. Sexual Harassment Prohibition: Sexual harassment or any form of harassment will not be tolerated.

8. Substance Prohibition: The use of drugs, alcohol, vape, and tobacco is strictly prohibited on program premises.

9. No Recording Policy: Recording videos, taking pictures, or posting about others on social media without their explicit consent is not permitted.

10. Follow Instructions: Listen to and promptly follow instructions from staff.

11. Cleanliness and Organization: Keep the classroom clean and organized.

12. Honesty and Integrity: Be honest in all interactions. Cheating or dishonesty is not tolerated.

13. Positive Attitude and Role Modeling: Approach each class with a positive attitude and open mind. Be a role model for your peers through your actions and behaviors.

After School Enrichment Program - Discipline Policy

1. Purpose: This policy ensures a safe and positive learning environment, encouraging responsible behavior and adherence to program rules.

2. Offense Levels:

  • Minor Offenses: Includes needing 1-5 minutes of one-on-one support. Examples include minor disruptions and not following instructions promptly.

  • Major Offenses: Includes requiring more than 5 minutes of one-on-one support in a single class or leaving the classroom without permission, as well as violation of the no bullying policy, substance prohibition, and recording policy.

3. Disciplinary Actions:

  • For Minor Offenses: Parents will be notified either at pickup or via phone. The student can return the following week with the expectation of improved behavior. After the second minor offense within each term, the student may be removed from the class.

  • For Major Offenses: Parents will be notified, and the student will be removed from the class immediately.

4. Reinstatement Plan: After suspension, parents/guardians must meet with the Program Manager to discuss the student's behavior and develop a plan for successful return to the program.

5. Communication with Parents: Regular communication will be maintained with parents regarding any disciplinary issues.

6. Instructor Capacity: Instructors are trained to manage up to 10 students simultaneously and cannot and will not provide regular one-on-one support.

7. Right to Appeal: Families have the right to appeal disciplinary actions in writing to the program coordinator. The program manager will issue a decision within 14 days.

8. Policy Review: This policy will be reviewed annually and adjusted as needed.
